This is a workshop where Doreen takes the lead and is assisted by Andria. In this workshop we will explore Scotch darning, weaving on fabric, using needle felting and also Sashiko like/Boro to mend clothes that has worn thin or needs something beautiful to make it last longer.
The kit includes everything you would need such as needles, embroidery thread, fabric and felting tools.
Doreen will teach you how to use the templates to cut out all the pieces needed. Next you will learn how to assemble all the pieces to end up with a beautiful fabric bowl.
The kit includes the templates, batting and vilene.
Please bring your own fabric (20cm of two different fabrics will be enough).
Also bring your own scissor to cut out the pieces.
Andria will take you through the process of creating a landscape using needle felting. We will look at tools and materials needed and the techniques used to make this a rewarding creative process.
The kit includes the needles, roving and fabric to felt on.
Please note that the felting mat is not included in the kit.
Doreen will do a class where students will learn how to make a portfolio that can be used either for quilting tools to be stored in or keeping a project neatly organised. This project is adaptable to your needs.
Students will be given a list of preparations to be done before the class starts.
Andria will teach you how to warp a flat loom, do plain weave and explore other techniques and textures. The end product can either be a coaster or a small tapestry.
The kit includes a small frame loom, a comb and a needle. Yarn is also provided.
